October 25 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The first mention of a bank in Wellington was in 1795. The Clifton Group have been researching the history of banking in Wellington since that date and will trace how the major banks established themselves in the town over the course of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries through a fascinating series of mergers and acquisitions identifying some surprising founders of predecessor banks that have now been incorporated into the multi national enterprises of the current day as well as exploring what happened to a smaller bank and building society that are now defunct.
