Wellington And It’s Festival – Sponsorship Packages

The Wellington Festival is the largest community festival in Shropshire and 2018 will be it’s 23rd year. It comprises approximately 30 days of music of all kinds, art, drama, literature, comedy, film, photography, involvement in environmental issues, local history and multi-media presentations. There are various workshops, interactive events and master classes for all ages. The Festival attracts professional artists and performers of international and national status, including several who live locally – we also draw upon abundant local amateur talent. The Festival is also spread across the whole of the Town and will often take place in up to 20 venues each year; thus supporting local businesses whilst attracting the many attendees to experience the best that our vibrant Town has to offer.

Wellington is a historic market town in Shropshire, the Charter to the market dates back to 1244 and is still going strong today. In March, the Town marks Charter Day, when the 1244 Charter is delivered by a messenger on horseback. A jury then convenes in the Market Square to appoint the town crier, ale taster and market clerk for the year ahead. As well as maintaining it’s strong historical links, there is also a thriving arts and music scene.

During the summer, around 40 events take place in and around the Town, including the historically inspired Midsummer Fayre, the Town carnival, Lions Day at Bowring Park, and the Wellington Walking Festival. Sounds in The Square brings live music to the heart of the town across weekends in July and August, and various concerts and fetes complete the programme. October sees the arrival of The Wellington Arts Festival which is the UK’s largest free access festival with a wide range of events from plays, music, exhibitions, literature, poetry competitions etc. The Arts Festival has recently been extended and now takes place in May as well.

The Wellington Festival operates in a similar way to the Edinburgh Fringe, in that the ideas and promotions come to us from various sources. Some venues organise their own programme of performances and exhibitions within the Festival’s remit and these are actively promoted. The Festival is run on a small grant from Wellington Town Council and on volunteer effort – many members of the community are involved in a huge range of ways throughout the year.

To deliver such a wide variety of high quality events we rely on corporate sponsorship and advertising in our Festival brochure and on our website. If you would like to find out more about our levels of sponsorship, and preferential advertising rates, please contact the office on 01952 567697 or email caroline.mulvhihill@telford.gov.uk and we will be in touch shortly.
